Zakarama

Zak has had another hair cut. Nicely showcased in the following.  He is also looking like a very efficient little worker!  These were taken when hanging out with his Nanna Maurs at her workplace!

Shocking omission of news....Zak is one year old!

THE Zak-meister turned one on Tuesday the 16th May! It is therefore the first anniversary of Zakarama.  Thank you Zak, for being the subject of the best range of photos on this blog (even better than THE CAT!). Insight into Aussie Slang...combined with Zakarama!

I feel quite chuffed that of all the babies to most regularly showcase on this blog I chose Zak. He gives us some very good photos to view, known as 'good talent' in the PR world (?). As noted from other photos, Zak takes after his mother Denise (well and his Dad too ) and has some gorgeous curly hair.  This last week saw his first major hair cut.  I like the way this 'do emphasizes those eyelashes!  And then we have the photo of Zak in his 'budgie smugglers'. These are a pair of speedo type bathers given to Zak by my mother.  For international readers, Budgie is slang for an Australian small bird the Budgerigar....you can work out the rest of why this type of bathers/swimming costum is so termed!

In honour of Claire's BRILLIANT packages

Claire, (aka Blaire as she is known in the texting world....do you too have different names for your friends because that is what the SMS text converts them to?  ie Denise is Demise (?why?) Zak starts as Wal...etc) is the foreign correspondant for the Four Season's duck club and a good friend of Denise and I. She has sent us some great packages/stuffed letters for Christmas and then again this last week.

Denise was the recipient of Invisible Jim- can you see him? he is invisible.....there are great things written on the package like 'camoflauge outfit available separately' etc  but this is a dodgy mobile phone photo. I am hoping that on the Comments Denise will add some of the other great things written on the package as I can't quite remember them now.

I received in my mailed package the wonderful vintage pattern to make the sock puppet's Blondie and the Spaceman.  They are rather Speccy- check out the wallpaper in the background!!  Claire made a very lovely statement that she is sure I am past knitting sock puppets.......I think she may not be referring to knitting socks here....as I include the latest photo of my knitting progress on my first ever sock  which is toddler sized (this will be a prototype....too many errors!).  This small few inches of knitted tube (I am just up to doing the heel flap) represents probably ~ 4-5 hours of knitting....so I won't EVERY be cutting up a hand knitted sock for a sock puppet!!  For the knitters out there I am knitting it on 5 double pointed needles (cos that what my book wanted!!) - 2.25mm and juggling the needles is driving me crazy...from this sock on I will be over to using 2 circular needles I am sure! I am finding even doing 2 rounds of this little bitty sock is giving me neck pain (again!) and so this is likely to be a project that takes me a VERY LONG TIME!  love doing it though.......

The last photo is of Denise and Zak yesterday at the Perth's Zoo. Denise is wearing the top Claire posted her for Christmas. So thank you Claire!

Yes Zak was seen out and about in the party season surrounding Christmas. Here we see him partying with his Mum Denise and me!  I am feeding him an unidentified vegetable mix....

Christmas cards from Meaghan and Zak

Here are two of my most favourite Christmas cards from the cousins Meaghan Haggart (5yo- nearly 6) and Zak Griffiths (7 months nearly 8 months). Meaghan drew me a lovely picture and wished me a 'lovely christmas' and check out the end of 2005 Zakarma!

Finally some Zakarama!

Its been too long. There have been too many dogs,cats and ducks....they are fill ins for the important stuff...Now the comments will flow and the blog readers will flood back.....

He was 6 months old last week.  This photo is with a friend 4 days younger (Phoenix) and contrasts the WITH hair and the WITHOUT hair baby look.

I LOVE Zak's hair do's. It has been reported that Denise sometimes attends to his hair WHILE he is asleep cutting/styling etc....No product has been used as yet (WE THINK!)

Bestest date for this weekend

I don't think I am selling the rest of my weekend short when I claim I have already been on my best date at 10.30am this morning.  I was most honoured to be invited to do 'Baby Swim' with Zak.  Its a class for 0-6 month olds held at St John of God Murdoch's Hydrotherapy pool.  Zak is 6 months in a couple of weeks- so we was the BIG BOY of the class.

What do you do at baby swim? well you sing nursery rhymes and do actions and build up the baby's water awareness and swimming skills.  Zak is VERY good at kicking on his back and splashing. I went in the pool thinking my hair would not get wet.....I was wrong. 

Once again Zak was VERY patient with me. While we were in the post-swim shower rinsing off the chlorine we  talked about whether I should get a big L tatooed on my forehead (for LEARNER not LOSER)....but he indicated that is was pretty obvious to everyone anyway so not needed.....

Denise (the mother of Zak) and I are looking for an available baby swim course so that I can do it with Zak (and maybe get up to my P-plates) and she can swim laps at the same time......
